| I a i n A n d e r s o n by SMC However you describe Iain Anderson's fiddle playing it's no wonder that he's in constant demand as a concert performer, session musician and band member. Now, at the age of 28, his solo performance credits range from The Royal Albert Hall and The MTV Europe awards to Royal Gala performances for HM The Queen and every European Head of State at Londons' Natural History Museum and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. In July of this year he performed at the official launch of the final book in the "Harry Potter" series with singer/guitarist Colin Ramage and in the same month secured three major european tours for his band ! 2008 has already produced some musical moments to remember! Iain enjoys a wide and varied career often playing different styles of music from Scottish traditional to Jazz to classical, sharing the stage with an increasingly eclectic mix of performers including some of Scotland's finest exports; KT Tunstall, Polish pop group, Brathanki, Craig Jeffrey, 'Alasdair MacCuish & the Black Rose Ceilidh Band', Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham and 'The Reel Thing Ceilidh Band'. Iain's debut fiddle album, 'Silver Strings', was released in December 2006 on the Highlander Music record label to widespread critical acclaim and made album of the week on BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal within a few days of it's release. Now it's played regularly on BBC Radio and scores of international radio stations regularly featuring on both the Mike Harding and Desmond Carrington shows on BBC Radio 2 and everything from 'The Global Gathering' and 'Travelling Folk' to 'Take the Floor' and the 'Reel Blend' on Radio Scotland. On the strength of the album's success, Ken Bruce and BBC Radio 2 invited Iain to appear live on the world famous 'Friday Night Is Music Night' at the Mermaid Theatre in London. The show, presented by Paul Gambaccini, featured some fantastic performers including Louise Setara, Brian Kennedy and the renowned BBC Concert Orchestra. Iain recently appeared for the second time in 12 months on 'Friday Night Is Music Night', this time with the brilliant Gemma Donald and Tom Orr which was brodcast on 14th March 2008 ! Iain continues to enjoy great success touring worldwide with different bands in countries almost too numerous to mention. His particular favourites are Brazil, Argentina, Canada and Cyprus and, within Europe, he tours regularly in Germany, Holland and Switzerland. More information and sound samples at: Iain's myspace |
